Nwofor, Uchebo secure draw against Scotland

The Super Eagles yesterday came from behind twice to level scores, as the African champions forced Scotland to a 2-2 draw in an international friendly match played at the Craven Cottage in London.

An encouraging performance from Gordon Strachan’s side was not enough as the Stephen Keshi men walked off with a draw after a late strike from Uche Nwofor.

Yesterday’s match was the sixth unbeaten game for Strachan but Nigeria will feel the happier of the two teams after looking second best for large parts of the game.

Scotland took the lead with Mulgrew scoring with a fantastic flick, but an unfortunate deflection from Michael Uchebo’s shot leveled things before half time.

An own goal from Egwuekwe came as a result of strong play from Hutton down the right, but Scotland couldn’t hang on to their lead, as Nwofor’s clever finish from a tight angle earned the Super Eagles a draw.

The Super Eagles will continue their preparation for next month’s World Cup showpiece with a game against Greece on June 6 before facing Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Argentina at the World Cup proper in Brazil.
