Eagles will make Africa proud - Emenike
Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike has told AfricanFootball.com the Super Eagles will make Africa proud at the World Cup in Brazil.
The Turkish league winner and AFCON 2013 top scorer said Nigeria have a lot to prove in Brazil as African champions.
"I believe we will make Nigerians and the entire continent of Africa proud in Brazil,” he said.
“The good thing is that nobody is talking about us to spring surprises over there, everyone is focusing on Argentina and Bosnia. I won't write any of them off, even Iran, but we need to prove that we are African Champions in Brazil."
He added: "I am looking beyond the group stage, I pray God crowns our efforts with success. We are a good side. How far we will go will depend on our fighting spirit and make sure always right the wrongs at every point."
He played down any target for individual glory.
"Individually, I have nothing to prove but collectively, we have a lot to prove and I just hope we prove it well,” he said.
“I know the duty of strikers are to score goals at every tournament, I am aware of that and I am preparing to be at the right place in the right time to score the much-needed goals to help my nation do well, but I have no World Cup goals’ target.
“Nigeria’s success is my target at the World Cup."
