Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will be naming his provisional 30-man squad for the 2014 World Cup at an organized press conference on Monday, the Ghana FA has confirmed.
The Black Stars trainer will be addressing the media at the press briefing to take place at 12:30GMT on Monday at the Ghana FA headquarters in Accra.
Appiah will have by that time deliberated on the squad with members of the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee.
Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi will also be present to give details on the Black Stars’ plans for June’s tournament in Brazil.
“Coach Kwesi Appiah will announce his squad and plans for next month’s tournament to the public during the press conference which will start at 12:30 pm at the GFA Headquarters in Accra,” a statement from the GFA read.
“The GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi will also unveil a comprehensive plan for the team before and during the World Cup including the confirmed friendly matches, camping venues, travel plans and other activities connected to the team.”
Several reports are rife in the Ghanaian media over a purported leaked squad for the World Cup.
Kwesi Appiah and the Ghana FA have however maintained the ‘authentic’ squad will only be made public at the press conference on Monday.
The provisional 30-man squad will be scaled down to 25 to commence the Black Stars’ residential camping in the Netherlands.
Ghana will be making a third successive appearance at the World Cup finals this term in Brazil following progressive stints in 2006 and 2010 in Germany and South Africa respectively.
The Black Stars hope to progress to at least the semi finals but must first come out of a tough group which include Germany, Portugal and the USA.
