Stephen Keshi arrived in Cape Town on Tuesday, and promptly ripped into his players for their limpid performance against Congo on Saturday.
Keshi came in a day behind the rest of the squad, and took the opportunity of his team talk to make a brutal assessment of the team.
"This was a surprise for the players," an official told ColinUdoh.com. "They have never seen Big Boss this angry before.
"Nobody was spared. Everybody got a tongue-lashing. This was not the Keshi that they used to know that would console them if they lost.
"He made them understand that their performance against Congo was not good enough. And he warned them all to change or others would take their place. It was hot."
While the entire team got a right good bollocking, some got more than a real earful, including full backs Efe Ambrose and Elderson Echiejile, midfielder John Mikel Obi, winger Nnamdi Oduamadi and forward Uche Nwofor.
Keshi is now expected to make changes to the team that played in Calabar, with Emenike returning to the starting line up after having been axed for late coming along with Joel Obi.
